About Phone Balls

Phone Balls publishes buying guides for phone cases, chargers, and accessories. The guides explain what the specs on a listing mean, such as USB Power Delivery and PPS on a charger, Qi2 certification on a wireless pad, the watt-hour rating on a power bank, and the drop claim on a case, so you can tell whether something will work with your phone before you order it.

The site is organized into four sections. Cases covers case materials and screen protection, Charging covers wall chargers, wireless charging, and power banks, Accessories covers cables and car mounts, and Gifts covers buying phone gear for someone else. Longer pieces on narrower subjects are collected under Articles.

How the guides are written

We write from published sources. Those are the standards bodies that define the specs, including the USB Implementers Forum and the Wireless Power Consortium, the phone makers' own spec and support pages, and regulators such as the FAA and TSA, and most guides link to the pages their figures come from. When a rule or a spec has changed recently, the guide says when, and we revise guides as the standards and the phones change.

We don't run lab tests or rank brands. Phone Balls doesn't sell products, and the guides don't carry affiliate links or sponsored placements. If something in a guide looks wrong or out of date, the contact page is the place to tell us.
